HANDpower CleanerTM Hand Sanitizer Kills Viruses Bacteria and Fungi
- Benzalkonium Chloride kills pathogens by destroying the outer lipid (fatty) coating, which is why HANDpower CleanerTM Hand Sanitizer
is effective on bacteria, fungi, and enveloped viruses (which include COVID-19 and other coronaviruses).
COVID-19 and other coronaviruses are enveloped viruses and therefore can be killed by HANDpower CleanerTM Hand Sanitizer. - This is why the FDA has approved Benzalkonium Chloride as the only non-alcohol active ingredient for use in hand sanitizers, after considering many others submitted for consideration.
In fact, many of the alternative ingredients that the FDA considered had been marketed for many years but FDA decided they are either inadequate or not suitable for use by the general public. - Used at the correct concentrations for each purpose, benzalkonium chloride is safe and effective as a hand sanitizer, and has been used for many years:
- as a preservative in cosmetics and eye drops,
- as an antiseptic by surgeons and for other medical procedures,
- as an antiseptic for treating wounds,
- and has been used for decades in household products you probably already use, including certain antibacterial soaps.
A clinical research study published in a respected medical journal, reported that adenovirus (a non-enveloped virus that causes diseases ranging from sore throats to diarrhea to pink eye) is killed by benzalkonium chloride at 0.1% concentration, the same concentration present in Handpower CleanerTM Hand Sanitizer.
